Carbon Flux at Howland Forest Focus of Maine Public Story

Maine Public focuses on Howland Forest as part of their series “Climate Driven: A deep dive into Maine’s response, one county at a time.”

Howland Forest is a long-term research site focusing on fluxes of carbon dioxide, methane, water, and energy, as well as other terrestrial processes, to better understand the forest carbon cycle, particularly in response to climate change. Howland Forest is managed by University of Maine scientists through the Center for Research on Sustainable Forests, and is currently funded by the Department of Energy through its AmeriFlux program and the USDA Forest Service. For more information on the Howland Research Forest and it’s program, visit the Howland Forest website.
